CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Leadline - Open to riders 7 & under. Riders may enter other walk/trot classes only.

Pattern Ride - Open to riders 12 years and under. Riders may enter other walk/trot classes only. Leadline may be used.

Pre-Short Stirrup - Open to riders 10 years and under. Riders may enter other walk/trot classes only.

Short Stirrup - Open to riders 12 years and under. Entries may not cross enter into classes where they would jump over 18”. Jumping rounds may be trotted or cantered.

Long Stirrup - Open to riders 13-18 years old in their 1st or 2nd year of showing. Entries may not cross enter into classes where they would jump over 18”. Jumping rounds may be trotted or cantered.

Beginner Adult - Open to riders 19+ years old in their 1st or 2nd year of showing. Entries may not cross enter into classes where they would jump over 18”. Jumping rounds may be trotted or cantered.

Student Equitation - Open to all riders in their 1^st or 2^nd year of showing at fences at 2’ or higher. Jumping rounds may be trotted or cantered.

Pony Pleasure - Open to all ponies 14.2H and under ridden by juniors.

Pony Equitation - Open to all ponies ridden by juniors. At least 1/4 of the class will return to hack.

Green Pony Hunter - Open to all ponies 14.2H and under in their first or second year of showing over fences ridden by juniors.

Pony Hunter - Open to all ponies ridden by juniors.

Adult Horse Pleasure - Open to all horses ridden by adults.

Jr. Horse Pleasure - Open to all horses ridden by juniors.

Maiden Hunter - Open to all horses or ponies in their first year of showing over fences 2’ or higher. Jumping rounds may be trotted or cantered, and there is no penalty for simple changes. No restrictions on riders.

Low Hunter - Open to all horses or ponies. No restrictions on riders

Green Hunter Horse - Open to all horses in their first or second year of showing over fences. No restrictions on riders.

Children’s/Adult Eq. - Open to all horses. At least 1/4 of the class will return to hack.

Children's/Adult Hunter Horse - Open to all juniors and amateur adults riding horses.

RULES

· Ribbons to sixth place. Champion and Reserve in all divisions with 3 or more entries.

· Proof of negative Coggins within the past 12 months required.

· Formal attire is encouraged. Boots and ASTM-approved hard hats must be worn when mounted.

· Age of rider is determined as of December 1, 2007.

· Red Gate Farm, their employees and associates will not be held responsible for any loss, accident, or injury during this show. Entry onto these grounds constitutes agreement and knowledge thereof.

· A $30 fee will be charged on all returned checks.

· No dogs allowed on show grounds.

· Each class must have at least 2 entries to be held, and 3 entries for VHSA points to count.

· This show is an associate member of the VHSA. Every class offered herein, which is covered by the rules and regulations of the current VHSA rule books will be conducted and judged accordingly.

· Management reserves the right to refuse entries, cancel, split and/or combine classes if necessary.

· Unjudged rounds are permitted at the regular entry fee, if time permits.

· In case of a tie, points won over fences will be the deciding factor.

· No martingales in under saddle classes or the flat phase of the equitation classes. (exceptions granted for leadline, pattern, and pre-short stirrup)

· All owners and exhibitors will be held responsible for any damages to show grounds and property.

· Visiting horses may not enter barn.

· Judge’s decisions are final.

· Anyone using displaying abusive and/or unsportsmanlike conduct will be excused and all entry fees forfeited.
